Stop buying pink!
Pink is one of my favorite colors. Easily top two. But I've had enough of Komen pink. It is time for the fad to fade. I would be delighted with all of this pink if it weren't for the fact that the Susan G. Komen Foundation gives large amounts of money to Planned Parenthood. If you do not already know this, please pay attention. It's time to end this madness.
Fact: Abortion dramatically increases the odds of developing breast cancer. This includes chemical and medical abortions. It is scientific fact and abortion advocates are lying if they dispute it. It is very simple:
"When a woman has an abortion she interrupts the natural process of estrogen production and breast development. When a woman first becomes pregnant her body produces a Type 1 carcinogen, cancer causing agent, estrogen in order to nourish and provide for the baby. If the mother has her child, her body stops producing as much estrogen and her breasts mature. However, if that process is interrupted, the estrogen production continues and her breasts stay in an immature state, making them more susceptible to breast cancer." More here

Fact: Hormonal Contraceptives increase the odds of developing breast cancer. This is not complicated to understand since most people have a good idea that ingesting excessive hormones is risky... but a more detailed explanation can be found here.
Fact: Planned Parenthood is the world's largest provider of reproductive services including abortion and contraception.
Fact: Komen gives liberally to Planned Parenthood.
Fr. Daren made the comment on his blog today that "By "thinking pink" and donating to the SGKF, one does little to erradicate breast cancer and in fact helps spread it." It really is that simple.
It's incredible to me that this pink craze has not died out yet. It takes an awful lot of money to perpetuate a commercial fad for this long, even for a good cause. That is one reason for the extended hype (and periodic appearance of pink shoes on NFL football players). The other reason is that many women are sick and dying of breast cancer. Unprecedented numbers at younger and younger ages.
Consider this fact: If a woman has an abortion, it takes approximately 7 years for the cancerous cells to develop and be diagnosed. The number of women who are developing breast cancer in their twenties and thirties is rising. Do the math, eh? A 2007 study published by the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons showed that, among seven risk factors, abortion is the "best predictor of breast cancer."
Becoming educating and telling everyone who will listen about the abortion/breast cancer connection is a great way to stop the spread of this disease. Wear pink if you want to... but please don't buy it or wear it if it says Komen.

AMEN! My kids are always letting people know that the pink ribbon actually contributes to a known cause of breast cancer (abortion)...people just make an emotional plea - if you wanted to stop breast cancer then you'd support the pink ribbon. Utterly untrue! Sorry for the rambling - I just feel very strongly about this. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the post, Melody. It actually made me laugh to see your post title. I was just telling Paul that I would love to buy a pink IPad cover, but I know it will be confused with breast cancer awareness.:( Ugh! I told him I think I'll have to go with purple...if they make them in that color.:(
Thank you, Melody! I am spreading the word:) Just posted your article to FB.
Heather- Good for your kids! That is awesome!
Grace- Oh! They make pink ipad covers?? Sounds absolutely lovely. I have a huge weakness for pink! If it doesn't have a ribbon on it I say go for it! Although purple's lovely, too. :)
Tiffany - Thank you for spreading the word! I feel like this is old news and yet it seems to get swallowed up in the hype. We just have to keep pushing it out there. If people really want to help women to reduce their cancer risks, perhaps they'll start paying attention.
God bless you all!
I read about the correlation between Komen and Planned Parenthood a while back and have also been trying to educate others that the traditional pink ribbon representing Susan G. Komen's a deceiving symbol to represent the fight against breast cancer. Thanks for keeping the truth out there about the connection between breast cancer and abortion, Komen's pink ribbon campaign and true efforts to seek cures for breast cancer and celebrate survivors.

Would all the risk factors be the same for someone who has had a miscarriage?
Hi Anonymous- I don't know for sure buy my understanding is that most miscarriages involve a much lower level of estrogen than a healthy pregnancy and that the breast tissue does not develop to the same extent. Because of that, the risk factors are not the same.
